Make Your Event Interesting Before It Begins!

By Paul Zuurbier, Creative Director

Invitations and teasers are both important notices to your guests when announcing your event. Invitations tell you where, when, why, and what. Teasers tell you how!

Teasers are used less often than invitations because they generally involve more creativity and are more difficult to produce.

Teasers reflect the essence of the event without giving away the theme. For example, an invitation to a 007 bash may show a black pistol, the numbers “007”, and the words “James Bond”. A teaser, however, would be less obvious and more intriguing. The teaser for such an event could be a bullet-ridden, high-tech circuit board with the date and time of the event written out as a serial number. Other ideas are a recipe for a martini, a silk bowtie wrapped around a toy steering wheel, or a memory card with the video of a car chase. A teaser can be anything hinting at the theme of the event without having to announce it.

This is the great benefit of teasers – they create excitement and enthusiasm for your event! So, even before your event starts you have guests responding back eagerly asking you what is going to happen next. They’re interested!

Teasers can play a key role in the success of an event by letting your guests know they can expect something different.

Peaking guests’ curiosity or hinting of what is to come commits them early to your event!

Teasers are best used in conjunction with an invitation. As a result, the teaser isn’t burdened with the responsibility of stating information like location, time, and date. Prior to or following the official invitation, a teaser entices your guests with the idea that the upcoming event is one they don’t want to miss. With VIPs facing ever increasing social calendars, teasers are a great way to keep your event fresh in their minds.

For your next event, hook your guests early with a teaser and get them excited about your event before it even begins!
